Karachi: Blast near Rangers Headquarters hurts 21


KARACHI: A suicide attacker rammed his explosives-laden truck into gate no.3 of Sachal Rangers Headquarters located in North Nazimabad Block B area of the metropolis that injured 21 persons Thursday morning, sources told Geo News.
According to the injured Rangers personnel, the incident took place when an explosives-laden car hit the gate of the headquarters. As a result, one Rangers man was killed while 21 others including nine Rangers personnel, one policeman and a civilian were injured.
The blast smashed the glasses of Rangers Headquarters into pieces while a fire also broke out in one part of the building.
Various walls of the headquarters also collapsed due to the explosion.
Rescue teams and ambulances reached the site of the incident and kicked off relief activities. The injured people were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where three are said to be in critical condition.
IG Sindh Fayyaz Leghari told Geo News that the blast occurred when a suicide bomber hit the building with explosives laden Shehzore truck.
According to DIG East, more than 100 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.
Fire brigades also arrived at the spot to extinguish the fire while bomb disposal squad was also called in.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and started investigation. Meanwhile, two suspects were arrested from the hospital who were engaged in making videos of the injured Rangers men, sources told.
